Why did I start making
jewelry? Too easy: I have always been passionate about fashion, and love all
things that allow me to express creativity in my daily signature style. This
endeavor was not meant to be a business venture by any stretch of the
imagination – in the beginning. I just grew weary of spending ALOT of money for
accessories that "everyone else" was wearing, or that didn't properly
(or comfortably) fit my full-figured frame. It started with one or two fun
little pieces...and turned into something much bigger: To my surprise, I began
getting lots of compliments on my creations, and inquiries as to where
they could be purchased. After some convincing from a few friends, I
finally started crafting some goods for public consumption!
A few years, a husband, and a beautiful baby later
(and a short hiatus)...I became re-focused on creating my personal brand, and
in May 2009 the creative juices began flowing more than ever - and thus
beginning the rebirth of Glamma Gurl Xpressions – now affectionately known as
GGX.
Read my stance on Artistic Integrity
GGX Jewels was started in June 2005 by Gina (Nims) Brotherton, a self-taught jewelry artist in the Washington, DC, area.
Aside from being an artist, I began putting my experience as a corporate business woman to work for ME. In April 2011, I launched Present This! © Virtual Assistant Services. In addition, I am a plus-size model (artistic, stock, hair & make-up) and free-lance make-up artist. Trying to find a way to incorporate everything together, and juggle her many responsibilities has proved to be a challenge, but I am determined to stay on top of my game and make a name for myself!
Thanks to all who have helped bring this dream to fruition and
keep the dream ALIVE! And remember, this is only the beginning...
